With the goal of bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, Department of Civil Engineering recently arranged two educational field visits for its fourth-year students. Students specializing in Bio-Engineering were taken to the BP Highway and the Roshi Khola Bridge for the first event, which took place on Shrawan 4, 2081. 39 students gained practical experience with bio-engineering methods used to prevent slope failure during this visit. The excursion provided students with a practical understanding of how bio-engineering initiatives are carried out to prevent landslides and preserve highway stability, enhancing their classroom learning.
The Trishuli Hydropower plant in Nuwakot was the destination of the second field visit, which was carried out on Shrawan 8, 2081 for the fourth-year civil engineering students of the 2077 batch. The purpose of this excursion was to familiarize students with the mechanical and civil components of hydropower projects. Students studied essential components of infrastructure, including the layout of the powerhouse, settling basin, penstock, storage tank, and forebay. Additionally, they had the chance to have a close-up look at mechanical component such as turbine and electrical control systems. By exposing the students to real-world engineering problems and solutions, both field visits effectively improved their grasp of engineering concepts.
