Principal Prof. Dr. Arbind Kumar Mishra formally inaugurated the Sports Zone by cutting the ribbon at each of the newly developed sports facilities, including the futsal court, cricket practice net, and basketball court. To officially commence the inaugural sporting events, CEO Assoc. Prof. Dhan Prasad Paudyal handed over the balls to the players participating in each of the games, symbolically opening the facilities for student use.

The newly developed Sports Zone features a newly constructed futsal court, a dedicated cricket practice net, and a relocated, upgraded, and resurfaced basketball court. The college’s badminton court, located adjacent to the Sports Zone, continues to complement these facilities, offering students an expanded range of opportunities for sports and recreation.

The inauguration was followed by a series of friendly matches that brought together students and faculty members in a vibrant display of sportsmanship and community spirit. Three teams representing the Class Representatives (CRs) competed alongside a faculty team in the inaugural futsal tournament, while two senior student teams played the opening basketball match. Cricket enthusiasts also marked the opening of the new practice net with a friendly practice session.

The sporting events were met with enthusiastic support from students, faculty, and staff. The sidelines echoed with loud cheers and applause throughout the matches, creating an energetic atmosphere that reflected the excitement of the NCE community. The spirited participation and encouragement from spectators made the inauguration a memorable celebration of sports, camaraderie, and campus life.

The inauguration of the Sports Zone represents another step in NCE’s continued investment in providing a balanced educational environment where academic excellence is complemented by physical fitness, teamwork, leadership, and extracurricular engagement. The new facilities are expected to further encourage students to actively participate in sports while strengthening the vibrant campus culture at the National College of Engineering.
