Overview

Established in 2009 A.D., the Department of Civil Engineering at the National College of Engineering (NCE) is dedicated to cultivating competent, highly skilled, and socially responsible engineering professionals. The department integrates academic rigor, hands-on field experience, and strict professional ethics to prepare graduates for impactful careers in national and global infrastructure development.

National College of Engineering Civil Department Overview
  • Providing quality education in structural, transportation, and environmental engineering.
  • Equipped with modern labs, practical training, and field-based learning opportunities.
  • Encouraging innovation, research, and sustainable infrastructure development.
  • Producing skilled, ethical, and industry-ready civil engineers.

Laboratories & Research Facilities

Material & Structural Testing
  • Structural Engineering Lab: Evaluates the behavioral mechanics of beams, columns, and structural components under load.
  • Concrete and Materials Lab: Conducts concrete mix design testing, evaluating aggregate properties and cement strength.
  • Construction Materials Testing Lab: Performs quality control tests on asphalt, structural steel, and masonry bricks.
Earth & Water Sciences
  • Soil Mechanics / Geotechnical Lab: Investigates soil classification, compaction, shear strength, and bearing capacity.
  • Engineering Geology Lab: Focuses on mineral identification, rock mechanics, and geological site investigations.
  • Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics Lab: Explores fluid flow dynamics, pipe friction, pump performance, and open-channel hydraulics.
  • Hydrology and Water Resources Lab: Analyzes rainfall-runoff models, irrigation design, and hydropower system parameters.
Environmental & Field Surveying
  • Environmental Engineering Lab: Conducts water and wastewater quality analysis.
  • Survey Engineering Lab: Field training with Total Stations, levels, theodolites, and GPS equipment.
Digital Design & Innovation
  • Computer and CAD Lab: Training in AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, GIS.
  • Project and Research Lab: Supports capstone projects, prototypes, and research work.

Note: Core academic coursework is paired with mandatory off-site survey camps, industrial field visits, and technical workshops.
