Ambikesh Kumar Jha is a senior civil engineer and hydropower expert with extensive experience in hydropower project design, construction and management. He graduated from Institution of Engineers, India in Civil Engineering and obtained his Master of Science degree in Water Resources Engineering from Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus with distinction. He also completed Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Tribhuvan University, Central Campus, Kirtipur and Master of Arts in Sociology from Patan Multiple Campus, TU.
Mr. Jha began his academic career as Lecturer at one of Nepal’s most popular engineering institute, IOE (Purwanchal Campus, Dharan), of Tribhuvan University (TU). He also served as teaching faculty at IOE Pulchowk Campus and many other colleges in Nepal. He has provided online lectures at School of Engineering (Master’s Program), Pokhara University and guest lectures at many other colleges. He is co-author to a text book of “Hydraulics”.
Mr. Jha is a former Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). He has served at different capacities in design, construction and management of Kulekhani III hydropower project, Rahughat hydropower project, Upper Trishuli IIIA hydroelectric project and many more. Before joining National College of Engineering, he was the Managing Director of Uttarganga Storage Hydroelectric Project (a subsidiary company of Nepal Electricity Authority with installed capacity of 828 MW). Mr. Jha has joined National College of Engineering (NCE) as Associate Professor/ Head of Department (HOD), Civil Engineering Program from August 2024.
