Purushottam Shrestha is a senior water resources engineer with expertise in both academia and consulting sectors. He is graduated from the renowned IIT Roorkee (erstwhile the University of Roorkee), India with First Class honors in B. E. in Civil Engineering in 1986. He earned his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada in 1998. During his academic career, he also spent time as a research exchange student at NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology), Norway.
Mr. Shrestha embarked on his academic journey as a Lecturer at IOE Pulchowk Campus, Tribhuvan University, in 1986. Beyond his teaching commitments, he assumed significant roles including Deputy Head of the Civil Engineering Department, member of the Faculty Board, and member secretary of the M. Sc. Program in Water Resources Engineering Preparatory Committee. He even temporarily held the position of Acting Campus Chief of IOE Pulchowk Campus. He was an Associate Professor at Pulchowk Campus before he took self-retirement to migrate to Canada in 2009. He is currently member of the Civil Engineering Subject Committee and Agricultural Engineering Subject Committee for IOE, Tribhuvan University.
Mr. Shrestha was registered as a Professional Member of the APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta), APEGS (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan) and EGBC (Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia) while he was working as consulting engineer in Canada. He had also worked as a water resource engineer for the Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), a department of Government of Canada. Since February 2023, Mr. Shrestha has been working as Principal at National College of Engineering (NCE).
