At National College of Engineering (NCE), we believe engineering education extends far beyond the classroom. The Internship and Job Placement Division (IJPD) exists to bridge the crucial gap between academic learning and real-world professional practice.
Established in line with Tribhuvan University’s Revised Curriculum (Batch 2080 onward) and the fast-changing needs of today’s industries, IJPD serves as a dedicated support system that helps students secure meaningful internships, build essential employability skills, and launch successful careers.
Our Purpose & Vision
We exist to give every student valuable hands-on industry experience and to guide our graduates smoothly into the professional world. Our long-term vision is to build a strong, sustainable ecosystem at NCE where:
- Academic knowledge
- Practical skills and
- Industry expectations come together seamlessly.
We aspire to achieve:
- 100% internship completion for all eligible students
- Continuously rising job placement rates for our graduates
- Deep, long-lasting partnerships with leading national and international organizations
- A campus culture that celebrates professional growth, innovation, and lifelong learning
Who We Support
IJPD works with students across all core engineering programs at NCE:
- Civil Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics, Communication and Information Engineering
Since internships are a mandatory graduation requirement under Tribhuvan University rules, we guide students through every step from preparation and placement to supervision and final evaluation.
What We Do
The Division handles a wide range of responsibilities to ensure high-quality, meaningful internship and career experiences:
- Finding and Coordinating Internships
We help connect students with reputable organizations, including engineering consultancies, construction firms, IT companies, hydropower projects, industries, NGOs/INGOs, and government agencies. While we encourage students to take the lead in securing opportunities, we provide institutional backing, guidance, introductions, and formal approval.
- Policy & Compliance
We implement NCE’s official Internship Policy and ensure full alignment with TU curriculum requirements from registration and organization approval to professional conduct and final evaluation.
- Monitoring & Quality Assurance
We keep track of progress through:
- Regular internship logbooks and progress reports
- Feedback from industry supervisors
- Final reports and presentations (where required)
Internships are only marked complete once all documentation is submitted and evaluation criteria are met.
- Career Readiness & Skill Building
We organize practical workshops and sessions on:
- CV/résumé writing
- Cover letters and LinkedIn optimization
- Mock interviews
- Career counseling
- Soft skills and selected technical training programs
These activities help students build confidence and stand out in competitive job markets.
- Alumni & Industry Partnerships
Our alumni are one of our greatest assets. We are actively building a strong alumni network across key sectors engineering consultancies, construction & infrastructure, hydropower, IT/startups, government, and development organizations.
Through alumni engagement we aim to create opportunities for:
- Internship and entry-level job openings
- Technical mentoring and career advice
- Guest lectures and industry talks
- Meaningful academia industry interaction events
Regular alumni meetups and networking programs help strengthen these lifelong professional connections for the benefit of current students, recent graduates, and the college itself.
- Moving Beyond Internships: Job Placement & Career Pathways
While structured internships fulfill academic requirements, IJPD also works to open doors for full-time employment. We collaborate with job portals, private companies, development projects, and recruitment platforms to improve the internship-to-job transition rate.
By continuously aligning student preparation with current market demands, promoting professionalism, and supporting graduates during their career entry phase, we aim to help more NCE alumni begin their professional journeys successfully.
Our Roadmap
Short-term: Establish clear procedures, develop guidelines & templates, launch communication channels, and kick-start alumni & industry outreach.
Mid-term: Sign formal MoUs with organizations, strengthen monitoring systems, and expand skill-development offerings.
Long-term: Build an NCE Internship Portal, explore international opportunities, launch innovation/incubation support, and deliver measurable placement results.
The Internship and Job Placement Division is committed to preparing NCE engineers who are not only academically excellent but also confident, ethical, adaptable, and truly industry-ready.
