Er. Kamal Katwal
Chief-Internship & Job Placement Division
It gives me great pleasure to share a few words with you as the Chief of the Internship and Job Placement Division (IJPD) at the National College of Engineering. Taking on this responsibility has been both an honor and a motivation for me. From the very beginning, my sincere goal has been to develop IJPD into an active, reliable, and student-focused division that truly connects classroom learning with the real world of industry and professional practice.
Our immediate focus is simple but very important: to make the Division fully functional and supportive for every student. In the coming months, we will concentrate on building a strong foundation by:
- Developing clear procedures, guidelines, and formats for internship registration, approval, monitoring, and evaluation
- Creating dedicated communication channels such as email, notice boards, and digital platforms so that students receive timely information and guidance
- Strengthening coordination among academic departments, students, and internship-providing organizations
- Organizing regular career-preparation programs including CV writing workshops, mock interviews, LinkedIn guidance, and soft-skill development sessions
These steps are aimed at ensuring that every eligible student receives proper guidance and completes their mandatory internship with meaningful learning, confidence, and professional discipline.
Looking beyond the present, my long-term vision for IJPD is closely connected with NCE’s mission of producing not just engineering graduates, but capable, confident, and industry ready professionals who can positively contribute to society and the nation.
To move in this direction, I am eager to work on a few important initiatives:
Establishing an Incubation Center at NCE
We aspire to create a space where students’ ideas can grow. This center will encourage innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among students of civil, computer, electrical, and electronics engineering. With proper mentorship, resources, and industry linkages, we hope to help students transform their ideas into practical solutions and successful ventures.
Building a Strong and Active Alumni Network
Our alumni are one of our greatest strengths. Many of them are already contributing to leading consultancies, construction companies, hydropower projects, IT firms, government offices, and development organizations. By building a strong alumni network and organizing regular interaction and mentoring programs, we aim to provide our students with real-world guidance, internship opportunities, career advice, and professional inspiration.
Organizing Job and Career Fairs
To support our graduating students, we plan to organize job and career fairs at NCE. These events will bring employers directly to campus, creating opportunities for networking, interviews, and placement drives. Such initiatives will help our graduates take confident first steps into their professional careers.
I warmly invite all of you to work together with the Internship and Job Placement Division. Let us create an environment at NCE where students feel supported, innovation is encouraged, and academic learning smoothly leads to professional success.
Together, we can ensure that every NCE graduate steps into the future with confidence, competence, and hope. Thank you for your trust, cooperation, and continued support.
