National College of Engineering has taken a pioneering step in engineering education by introducing a stipend system for its students, encouraging the concept of “Earning While Learning.” This initiative is designed to motivate meritorious students to pursue their engineering studies by providing financial support through a stipend, which helps alleviate the financial burden and promotes academic excellence.
This concept not only sets a precedent in engineering education but also aligns with the broader goal of fostering a practical learning environment where students can gain work experience while continuing their education. By offering stipends, the college is making higher education more accessible and attractive to talented students who may face financial constraints, thereby empowering them to excel in their academic and professional pursuits.
Starting with the 2081 intake, one student from each program will be eligible to receive the NCE stipend of up to NRs 4,00,000 over four years. The stipend amounts to NRs 10,000 per month for 10 months each year (Mangsir to Bhadra). Here’s how it works:
- First Year: Awarded to the student with the best IOE entrance rank within the program (must be within the top 700 of the IOE entrance rank for 2081).
- Second Year: Awarded to the college program topper in the IOE exam of the 1st year/1st part (must achieve Distinction in the semester).
- Third Year: Awarded to the college program topper based on the aggregate of the 1st year/2nd part and 2nd year/1st part (must achieve Distinction in at least one of these two semesters).
- Fourth Year: Awarded to the college program topper based on the aggregate of the 2nd year/2nd part and 3rd year/1st part (must achieve Distinction in at least one of these two semesters).
Recipients will be assigned a mentor and are required to work on projects, research, or publications under their supervision. The monthly stipend will be disbursed upon the mentor’s satisfaction and recommendation.
